The aim of the ancient Chinese treatment of acupuncture is to restore the balance of Qi, or energy, in the body. It does this through the painless application of fine needles at strategic points on the body. Qi consists of Yin and Yang, two opposite but complementary forces that flow through our body. When they are out of balance, disease or illness will occur and so the goal of acupuncture is to bring them back into balance. Acupuncture needles, through targeting specific points, allow access to the 12 meridians of the body through which the Qi flows. When the flow of energy in the body returns to its natural balance, then the body will be restored to health and harmony.
